Proving You Have Sufficient Funds
How to calculate and document your financial ability for a visitor visa.
Sufficient funds mean you can cover all costs of your trip without needing to work illegally in Canada.
How Much Is "Sufficient"?
There is no official minimum, but you should be able to cover:
- Round-trip airfare (or proof of booked tickets)
- Accommodation for the duration of your stay
- Daily living expenses (CAD $100-150 per day is a good estimate)
- Any planned activities or tours
- Emergency buffer
Example Calculation
2-week visit to Canada
- Airfare: CAD $1,500
- Accommodation (14 nights x $150): CAD $2,100
- Daily expenses (14 days x $100): CAD $1,400
- Buffer: CAD $500
Total: Approximately CAD $5,500
